Description: Inorganic nutrient concentrations (nitrate + nitrite-N, ammonium-N, dissolved reactive phosphorus, and dissolved reactive silicate) in water column profiles were sampled along a transect though Nydia Bay Pelorus Sound on 17 occasions between May 2018 and June 2019. These were ancillary data collected at the same time as the collection of samples for trail and validation of qPCR methods for the detection and enumeration of harmful algae species under the Sustainable Seas Innovation Fund project: "Innovative technologies for the early detection of Harmful Algal Bloom threats" (C01X1515). The data set contains the results of the analysis of 204 individual samples and is complementary to data sets containing salinity, temperature, chlorophyll a and phytoplankton composition and abundance. The analysis of the samples was carried out by the Water Quality Laboratory, NIWA, Hamilton. (Sustainable Seas project number IF2.2.2.5)
