Description: Research participants were either planners (kaiwhakamahere) from Environment Bay of Plenty or kaitiaki (Māori resource managers) from the Tauranga Moana (Harbour) area. Ten people were interviewed for approximately 30 to 60 minutes. Interviews were recorded on either audio visual or audio devices with the permission of the interviewees. Seven Tauranga Moana kaitiaki (Tauranga Harbour guardians) involved in the management of the harbour from a Māori rights perspective were interviewed, five participants were interviewed individually while two participants were jointly interviewed. Three planners from government agencies were interviewed. Two planners were interviewed together, and one was interviewed separately. All interviews and transcripts are confidential and can only be used by members of the project team for purposes identified in the ethics procedures for the project. (Sustainable Seas 2.1.2)
