Description: Data generated by the project included maps with spatial predictions of biologically generated (biogenic) habitat structure, and all underpinning GIS layers used to make the maps. The provision of biogenic habitat structure by seafloor organisms promotes the settlement and survival of culturally and commercially important kaimoana. Maps were created for the Hauraki Gulf and Top of the South Island (Tasman/Golden Bay; Marlborough Sounds) at 200 m grid scale resolution. Validation data (video of the seafloor at 57 sites in the centre of the Hauraki Gulf) are also available. The project also generated maps with spatial predictions of denitrification enzyme activity (DEA) for Whitford and Wairoa in southern Tamaki Strait (Hauraki Gulf). All underpinning GIS layers used to make these maps, and validation data from Whitford, are also available. DEA is a proxy for denitrification, which is central to the ecosystem service of nutrient removal. (Sustainable Seas project number 2.1.3 Measuring ecosystem services and assessing impacts)
