Description: |
Phytoplankton data was collected from sites within the Marlborough Sounds on many occasions (June 2017-July 2019) in association with the collection of samples for development and validation of qPCR assays for toxic and noxious micro-algae taxa under the Sustainable Seas Innovation Fund project "Innovative technologies for the early detection of Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) threats" (C01X1515). The data consists of tables with location, date and cell numbers mainly focused on prominent nuisance species (e.g. Alexandrium pacificum). A large portion of the data originates from sites within the Onepua Inlet (Tory Channel, Queen Charlotte Sound) and Nydia Bay (Pelorus Sound).
